Part-Time Customer Service Clerk - Parks and Recreation Department
About the Role
The Parks and Recreation Department provides residents and visitors more than 41,000 acres of desert parks and mountain preserves with 200 miles of trails, 189 parks, 33 community and recreation centers, 29 pools, and 8 golf courses. Over a million Phoenix-area residents regularly enjoy the City's parks, playgrounds, walking paths, athletic fields, and open green spaces.
This position handles inquiries regarding operations and programs, permit transactions, athletic field reservations, and maintenance requests. Duties include filing, report writing, and communication with internal and external customers. The Customer Service Clerk also performs basic cashiering duties such as processing customer credit card transactions.
Ideal Candidate
- Basic computer skills to include Microsoft Office products or equivalent
- Familiarity with Parks and Recreation services
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong clerical ability and mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
Responsibilities
- Handle inquiries regarding operations and programs, permit transactions, athletic field reservations, and maintenance requests
- Perform filing and report writing
- Communicate with internal and external customers
- Process customer credit card transactions
Requirements
- One year of experience in meeting the public and performing varied office and clerical tasks
- Courses in bookkeeping and demonstrated typing skills
- Other combinations of experience and education which meet the minimum requirements may be substituted
- All finalists are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position
- Candidates receiving a conditional offer of employment must be fingerprinted for a criminal history records check
- Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business; individuals must possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience updating records and work materials
- Experience managing shared calendars
- Experience conducting basic research
- Experience using basic electronic purchasing systems and databases
- Experience developing basic electronic communication, memos, letters, and reports
- Experience operating multi-line telephone systems
- Proficient in Spanish
Pay
Pay Range: $17.22 - $26.70 per hour. Hiring Range: $17.22 - $18.97 per hour.
Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification. Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.
- Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase
- Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease
- Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade
- When there is a change in the first digit of the pay grade, there may also be a change to your classification or unit
