Part-Time Custodian

About the Role

A custodian responsible for maintaining cleanliness, safety, and security of school buildings and grounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine custodial tasks such as sweeping, mopping, waxing, polishing floors, and vacuuming carpets.
• Clean classrooms, restrooms, locker rooms, cafeterias, gyms, and related areas; disinfect fixtures and surfaces.
• Report safety hazards, maintenance needs, and security concerns; maintain building security and monitor for unauthorized access.
• Operate cleaning equipment including vacuums, floor buffers, carpet shampooers, and high-pressure sprayers.
• Assist with setting up rooms for events, move furniture, and handle minor repairs and maintenance requests.
• Order supplies, clean windows, walls, and furniture, and perform grounds cleanup such as trash removal and snow shoveling.
• Respond to emergency spills and maintain safety standards; keep records of safety issues and repairs.

Requirements

• Knowledge of custodial methods, materials, and safety procedures.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, operate cleaning equipment, and follow safety guidelines.
• Effective communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
