Essential Duties
- Cooking and preparing food according to established or special menus
- Serving food to customers
- Maintaining records of temperature logs, inventory, supplies, etc.
- Ordering supplies
- Cleaning and operating food service equipment and applicable areas
- Ensuring proper food handling in accordance with ServSafe regulations
- Speaking with clients at the senior center and special events
- Utilizing interpersonal skills to convey or relay information to supervisors, peers, and clients
- Performing other duties of a similar nature
Other Job Requirements/Information
- This job requires fingerprinting
- Physical Requirements: Due to the physical nature of the job, this role will require a physical and a 50-pound lift test
- Vision Requirement: Individual must be able to determine color variations to be able to detect spoiled foods
- Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, fumes, odors and extreme temperatures
Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED
- One year of experience working as a cook
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, such as those listed above, will also be considered
Preferred Qualifications
- One year experience working with seniors
- ServSafe Certification preferred (must be attached to application) or must obtain within the first 3 months of employment (Gwinnett County will provide training opportunity)
- CPR and First Aid Certification (within 6 months)
Pay and Schedule
The hourly rate is $15.75.
