About the Role

Assist the Engineering Department with various assignments including continuous improvement initiatives, 3D design & print work, scrap reduction projects, process design/optimization, non-conforming material review, and overall production support.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with shop personnel to understand internal processes and product flow.
  • Wear proper safety equipment and maintain a clean, safe work area at all times.
  • Understand how to read and interpret customer blueprints.
  • Perform job tasks efficiently according to established standards to deliver quality workmanship.
  • Report any problems, discrepancies, or issues to immediate management.
  • Design, create, print, and test 3D fixtures for production needs, working with inputs from the production team.
  • Develop an understanding of lean manufacturing principles and the tools required to implement continuous improvement projects.
  • Understand customer requirements, internal scrap challenges, rework, customer returns, and their impact on your job; demonstrate ability to deliver quality and efficient workmanship.
  • Participate in the Material Review Board (MRB) to identify the root cause of defects found in production.
  • Analyze processes and input engineering changes that will lead to performance gains in productivity, quality, and/or on-time delivery to customers.
  • Collaborate with technical writers on updating work instructions where needed and/or after successful process improvement initiatives.
  • Model castings and gating systems in CAD software for use in simulation applications.
  • Work with engineers to fix process and/or design issues leading to the production of scrap.
  • Perform any and all other responsibilities assigned by the company and management.

Requirements

Education/Training: Attending a four-year college for Engineering (preferably Mechanical or Aerospace). Please provide a copy of your transcript.

Skills

  • CAD experience (SolidWorks preferable).
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Adaptability and resilience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Accuracy, thoroughness, and timeliness.
