Job Title
About the Role
Apart from ensuring compliance with codes, standards, rules, and regulations, the Part-Time Commercial Building Inspector will also provide customer service, communicate technical information, and contribute to the city’s comprehensive building code technology and plan review team.
Responsibilities
- Ensure commercial construction projects comply with all applicable codes, standards, rules, and regulations in Cottage Grove and surrounding communities.
- Take a customer-service oriented approach to ensure compliance.
- Communicate technical information in a manner that’s easy to understand.
- Contribute to the city’s comprehensive building code technology and plan review team.
Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalency, supplemented by additional specialized education in building inspection technology or related field.
- Two (2) years of experience performing commercial building inspections and plan reviews, or any satisfactory combination of education and/or experience.
- Possess and maintain a valid Oregon Class C Driver License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to safely operate a city vehicle to travel to inspection sites.
- Successfully complete a post-conditional job offer background check.
- Possess State of Oregon Inspector Certification (OIC).
- Possess three or more of the following State of Oregon Certifications: A-Level Structural Inspector; A-Level Mechanical Inspector; A-Level Plumbing Inspector; Commercial Plans Examiner; Fire Life Safety Plans Examiner.
- Preferred qualifications include State of Oregon Residential Structural Inspector and Plans Examiner; State of Oregon Residential Plumbing Inspector; State of Oregon Residential Electrical Inspector and/or State of Oregon Manufactured Structures Inspectors.
