Part Time Childcare Substitute Educator - Sumner Bonney Lake School District

About the role

Right At School provides before and after school extended day programs focused on disguised learning activities and daily enrichment, aiming to inspire a love of learning, support schools, and give families peace of mind. The mission is carried out by building a team of mission‑driven individuals passionate about fostering a love of learning and creating safe, engaging experiences for children.

Responsibilities

• Daily Program Meetings: review goals and updates, share ideas, discuss professional progress, encourage collaboration, and team accountability.
• Organize and Facilitate Daily Activities: prepare activities and curriculum for the day, ensuring they align with program objectives; organize and lead structured daily fitness, activities, and curriculum that are both educational and enjoyable for all ages.
• Leading by Example: maintain a safe and nurturing environment, ensuring children are enjoying themselves while meeting program goals by modeling positive guidance and effective classroom management.
• Prioritize Safety and Joy: monitor the environment, address potential hazards, and follow all safety protocols, which may include documenting attendance, incidents, and other observations.
• Communication: effective communication with a varied audience, including children, parents, staff, and school personnel.

Requirements

• Outstanding customer service and relationship‑building skills
• Works well in a team environment
• At least 1 year of experience working with children under 13 years of age (preferred)
• Ability to lift 25 lbs
• Drive to inspire a love for learning and commitment to healthy living
• Flexibility to support additional local programs as needed

Washington Requirements

• Ability to meet state‑specific requirements
• First Aid and CPR – in‑person
• Cleared tuberculosis test
• Food Handlers Card
• Proof of MMR
• 18+ years of age
• Proof of High School diploma or GED
• Background check with fingerprinting

Pay

$18.00 – $20.00 per hour (based on education and experience)

Schedule

Substitute positions will not work the full shift below and will sub for others that call out. Before School Shift: Monday 6:15 am‑10:30 am; Tuesday‑Friday 6:15 am‑9:00 am. After‑school Monday‑Friday 3:15 pm‑6:00 pm.
