About the Role
Childcare Specialists are an essential part of the program, helping create a safe, nurturing environment for children ages 6 and under and contributing to a family-centered approach to recovery.
Responsibilities
- Create fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate activities for children in the Promise Program.
- Support children with daily routines while maintaining a calm, nurturing environment.
- Ensure the childcare space is always safe, clean, and supervised.
- Work closely with a supportive team to provide high-quality care and enriching experiences.
- Adapt to a schedule typically Monday–Thursday, with occasional adjustments based on program needs.
- Make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and families while growing your childcare and early childhood development skills.
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and team members.
- Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach when working with children of various ages, backgrounds, and emotional needs.
- Ability to maintain a supportive, structured environment while managing multiple tasks throughout the day.
- Basic understanding of child development, age-appropriate behaviors, and trauma-informed care principles (or willingness to learn).
- Reliable, responsible, and able to follow safety procedures to ensure the well-being of children in your care.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training, supervision, and skill development.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Pay
$17.50–$23.31/hour (DOE). Spanish speakers may qualify for a wage increase.
Schedule
Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM (varies).
Employment at Wasatch Behavioral Health is contingent upon successful completion of a drug screen, motor vehicle record review, and criminal background check. After hire, you must complete and receive a Criminal Background Clearance (BCI) from the Utah State Office of Licensing. Upon receipt of a conditional offer of employment, you must provide an official copy of licensure or certification.
