Childcare Attendant (Part Time)

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Recreation Manager - Recreation Center, provides fun-loving daycare by engaging and getting the children involved with toys and crafts to accommodate customers of the City of St. George Recreation Center.

Essential Functions/Typical Working/Mental Demands/Working Conditions

• Provides supervision to children in the Recreation Center Child Care Center.
• Provides assistance to the children while in the child care, including coloring with the children and playing games with them, all while keeping children safe from everyday accidents.
• Picks up toys with the children and cleans the toys at the end of each day.
• Ensures that children are cared for while adhering to the City’s child protection policy.
• Works with parents to ensure that all children have good experiences in the Child Care Center.
• Provides friendly interactions with children regardless of the situation.
• Calms children who are struggling with a parent leaving them in child care.
• Prevents and resolves possible conflicts between children.

Qualifications

• Minimum Age: All applicants must be at least 18 years old.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Personal and/or professional child care experience including child safety and calming upset children.
• Licenses and/or Certifications: CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications including infant CPR and First Aid must be obtained within 60 days of hire and be maintained throughout employment.

• Note: Golf course privileges are based on availability. Employees can book a tee-time within 24 hours or the same day, but may be turned away if there are no available tee-times. If you happen to be golfing with at least 2 paying customers; tee times can be set with more advance notice, but are still based on availability.
• Red Hills Golf Course will not be available to schedule tee times in advance --- walk on play based on availability only.
