Part-time Chef/Kitchen Host

About the role

KUTV, the CBS affiliate in Salt Lake City, is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and experienced part-time chef/kitchen host. The chef/kitchen host will produce or have a role in producing live and taped paid and non-paid interviews, segments, and packages. Responsibilities include going live in the field, participating in product demonstrations, and producing segments in the studio and in the field. These can include cooking demonstrations, product discussions, stories related to cooking, grocery costs, and anything that would affect a family’s kitchen at home.

Responsibilities

• Assists with daily preparation and content generation
• Conducts live and taped interviews in studio and in the field
• Participates in pre- and post-show meetings
• Contributes content to the website and all digital platforms
• Interacts with viewers on social media
• Produces sales cooking segments (live and pre-taped) in rundown
• Shoots video, writes, and edits long- and short-form stories, vignettes, Facebook Lives, and other on-air or digital assignments as needed
• All other duties as directed by management

Requirements

• Demonstrated background in cooking/baking, a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
• Minimum of 1 year of live on-camera (TV or digital) producing and hosting kitchen/cooking segments, or equivalent
• Minimum of 1 year of experience shooting video, writing, and editing long- and short-form stories, vignettes, Facebook Lives, and other on-air or digital assignments
• Strong interviewing and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work professionally and collaboratively and help foster a team environment with co-workers
• Professional interaction and collaboration with clients and guests
• Ability to carry out sales segments as assigned
• Sharp judgment and excellent technical skills
• Ability to work well independently
• Valid driver’s license and a good driving record
• Proficiency with computers, telephones, and other office equipment
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Flexibility to work any shift, including weekends and holidays as needed
