Part Time Certified Medication Aide (DOH/FBMC #31347+)
Salary: $20.56 - $30.85 hourly / $42,773 - $64,160 annually. This posting may be used to fill multiple positions and may close at any time.
About the role
This position administers medications to residents at a long-term care facility and observes residents for expected actions and adverse reactions to medications. The role involves preparing verbal reports and written documentation regarding medication administration, changes in resident conditions, and any departures from routine operations.
Customers served are residents of the long-term care facility.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications to residents and monitor for expected and adverse reactions.
- Prepare verbal and written reports on medication administration outcomes, resident condition changes, and operational irregularities.
- Conduct Medication Administration Record (MAR) audits.
- Maintain safety awareness related to narcotic use.
Requirements
- Certification as a Certified Medication Aide (CMA), Home Health Aide (HHA), or Certified Nursing Aide (CNA).
- One year of experience providing basic dietary, housekeeping, and/or laundry services in a long-term care facility or related duties.
- Certification by the New Mexico Board of Nursing to practice as a Certified Medication Aide.
- Licensure in accordance with Medication Aide regulations (61-3-10.2 NMSA 1978 and 16.12.5 through 16.12.5.21 NMAC).
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, and family members.
- Ability to function independently, demonstrate flexibility, personal integrity, and work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field above certification requirements and/or direct experience totaling one year may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Conditions
- Designated as a safety-sensitive position; subject to pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing.
- Screening for tuberculosis (TB) required upon hire.
- Subject to a nationwide criminal background check under the New Mexico Caregivers Criminal Screening Act.
- Works throughout nursing service areas (e.g., nurses' stations, resident rooms).
- Subject to frequent interruptions and interactions with emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.
- May work beyond normal hours, weekends, and holidays, including call-backs during emergencies (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster).
- Exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions; may be subject to COVID-19 requirements per CMS guidelines.
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of 5 feet and carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
Pay
$20.56 - $30.85 hourly / $42,773 - $64,160 annually.
