About the role
As a Stylist at David’s Bridal, you will provide and maintain a positive, friendly, empathetic, and professional selling experience for all customers. You will deliver 5-Star Customer Service, achieve sales goals, and ensure the store’s presentation and operations meet brand standards. Reporting to the Store Manager in partnership with the Sales Manager, you will act as a brand ambassador, demonstrating the values and critical success factors of David’s Bridal.
Responsibilities
- Welcome all customers with genuine, friendly enthusiasm in person and over the phone, adapting communication style to suit each customer.
- Use systems (appointments, POS, iPad tools) to manage customer flow and deliver a 5-star experience.
- Provide exceptional service to multiple customers simultaneously, contributing to store-wide 5-Star Customer Service goals.
- Proactively address customer concerns and escalate to leadership when necessary.
- Prepare for customer appointments by reviewing profiles, favorites, and setting up fitting rooms.
- Build relationships by asking questions and listening to understand customer needs (emotional and practical).
- Aim to identify the perfect gown/dress within the customer’s first three try-ons.
- Set future appointments using the Timeline Calendar and follow up with customers to remind or schedule sales.
- Communicate the importance of alterations in partnership with Alterations Specialists and promote all alterations services and personalization options.
- Assist in achieving an 80% conversion rate of brides sold to Alterations appointments.
- Ensure proper measurements are taken and entered into systems to minimize returns and exchanges.
- Maintain store standards (cleanliness, organization, promotional readiness) for a flawless shopping experience.
- Report broken or damaged equipment to store management and adhere to dress code standards.
- Promote David’s Bridal loyalty and partner programs for all life events.
- Respond promptly to customer questions with product and service information to build relationships and exceed satisfaction goals.
- Maintain hourly sales productivity standards using the 5-Step Selling Process.
- Support cash wrap behaviors, process transactions accurately, and celebrate every customer (e.g., ask about shopping experience, sell add-ons, confirm contact information, review receipt/policies, schedule future appointments).
- Maintain knowledge of special order dress procedures.
- Consistently achieve a 65% or greater platform conversion rate.
- Meet add-on goals: headpieces (75%), foundations (10%), and shoes (20%).
- Schedule follow-up appointments for the complete wedding party (bridesmaids, mother-of-the-bride, flower girl).
- Complete training in a timely manner and build product knowledge and fashion trend expertise to become a trusted advisor.
- Aim to become a Circle of Excellence member by exceeding sales targets.
- Execute new processes, behaviors, contests, and programs as assigned by store management (e.g., promotion setup, merchandising, visual changes, markdowns, inventory counts).
- Actively support the store team to achieve sales, service, and operational goals.
- Accurately clock in/out for scheduled shifts, breaks, and meals.
- Follow all loss prevention, security processes, and policies.
- Focus on personal development, complete assigned training, and remain current with myLearning curriculum.
- Celebrate team successes and share sales expertise and product knowledge with fellow stylists.
- Be open to coaching and feedback to improve behaviors and processes.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent degree.
- 1–2 years of prior retail experience in an apparel, service, or specialty store environment preferred.
- Prior experience with computerized POS systems preferred.
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods; reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to see up close and at a distance, use peripheral vision, and read/use computers and electronic devices for long periods.
