Part-Time Bartender - Petersburg

About the Role

The Service Bartender is responsible for all aspects of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage sales and service at bar outlets throughout the casino. You will prepare and serve beverages with a sense of quality and a unique flair to enhance the guest experience during their visit to Live! Casino and Hotel.

Responsibilities

• Set up bars and handle all cash transactions.
• Conduct opening and closing inventories of all stock.
• Take orders from guests and servers, serving them accurately and in a timely manner.
• Maintain a clean and orderly bar area.
• Monitor supply levels and assess stocking needs.
• Direct and observe bar back staff.
• Know and enforce guest limitations and company policies regarding alcohol service.
• Ensure guests receive a favorable gaming experience.
• Maintain appearance standards as established.
• Demonstrate knowledge of alcoholic beverages, including liquors, wines, beers, and ales.
• Operate bar equipment, including the Easy Bar System, and comply with ABC laws, gaming laws, and health department regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent (preferred).
• Completion of professional bartending training or mixology training (a plus).
• Minimum of six months to one year of experience as a bartender in a high-volume operation.
• Ability to work in an environment exposed to alcohol, smoking, bright lights, and loud noises.
• Must secure and maintain licensure as required by the Virginia Gaming Control Board or other applicable regulatory entities.

Skills

• Ability to upsell and recommend products to guests.
• Proficiency in basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand basic instructions in English.
• Ability to make change and reconcile sales at the conclusion of a shift.
• Demonstrated ability to entertain bar guests within socially appropriate standards.
• Ability to handle situations involving intoxicated guests effectively.
• Strong communication skills with all departments and team members.
