Part-time Barbering Teachers - In-District CTE Program - Various locations

Responsibilities

• Preparing students to work in a wide range of positions within the barbering field
• Combining classroom and laboratory instruction for hands on learning
• Teaching academic and professional skills for job acquisition, retention, and advancement
• Emphasizing training in safety, sanitation, hair care, and the latest cutting/styling trends
• Providing an overview of the salon industry and opportunities for professional growth
• Creating lesson plans and course outlines to prepare students to work in various areas of the barbering field
• Preparing students to take the New York State Barber Licensing Exam
• Evaluating each student's progress as part of the record keeping

Requirements

• New York State Education Department Certification: Barbering 7-12 Transitional A
• A valid New York State Barbering License
• Four or more years of professional experience in barbering
• Ability to network with professionals in the barbering field
• Strong oral, written, and communication skills
• Experience in shop management or ownership, including hiring practices
• Experience working with secondary students is preferred
