Responsibilities
- Developing and implementing instructional plans and curriculum tailored to various construction trades
- Teaching fundamental skills and techniques in hands-on construction projects
- Assessing student performance and providing constructive feedback to promote skill development
- Fostering a safe and organized classroom and workshop environment
- Maintaining and managing tools and equipment used in training
- Collaborating with local construction businesses to provide students with real-world experience and job placement opportunities
- Staying updated on industry trends, technologies, and safety standards
Requirements
- New York State Education Department Certification: Residential/Commercial Building Maintenance & Remodeling 7-12 (Transitional A, Initial, Professional)
- Strong knowledge of construction techniques, tools, and safety protocols
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and classroom management skills
- Ability to engage and motivate students with diverse learning styles and abilities
- Proficiency in using technology and teaching tools related to construction education
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment
