Job Summary

Positive Support Specialists (PSS) work in our Intensive Community Residential Services (ICRS) programs. These programs serve individuals with intensive medical, behavioral, and mental health needs. Our approach focuses on supporting individuals to reach their goals while ensuring safety for all involved.

  • Assist individuals in performing essential life skills such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, and navigating the community.
  • Advocate for the people supported in areas like rights, medical care, and community participation.
  • Complete necessary documentation and record-keeping every shift.
  • Manage crisis situations safely and effectively, including potential use of manual restraints.
  • Engage in trauma-informed care daily.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a variety of individuals.
  • The ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as standing, squatting, bending, or walking for long periods.
  • Knowledge of local community resources is a plus.
  • Cleared by a Bureau of Criminal Affairs (BCA) background study and have a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

  • A minimum education of a high school diploma, with a preference for a degree in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience working with people with complex needs, with a preference for 3-5 years of relevant experience.
