About the role

The County Extension Program Assistant position will perform duties necessary to assist the county extension agents in the day-to-day conduct of programs. Duties will include answering phone calls and helping 4-H and Agricultural assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in facilitating the county 4-H Program.
  • Assist 4-H'ers in preparation for 4-H competitive events including project achievement, judging teams, etc.
  • Transport or arrange for transportation of 4-H'ers to various district and state level events and if assigned, provide leadership for youth while attending these events.
  • Incorporate the results of program evaluations and feedback in planning future programs and techniques used in implementing programs.
  • Help implement educational Ag programs.
  • Maintain office hours to assist clientele and conduct day to day operations.
  • Aid clientele in accessing Extension resources and services including: printed publications, online content, other educational materials and sample submission for all diagnostic services (e.g. soil and water tests, feed and animal waste analysis, radon testing).
  • Assist with other duties as needed.

Physical Demands: Conduct programs (pack and move boxes, handle equipment, load and unload vehicles), travel to events, driving as needed to perform job duties.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Skills

Strong organizational skills, working knowledge of office practices and procedures, ability to use independent judgment and discretion with confidential information, and work with limited supervision.
