Pursue your passion and potential. Optum is seeking a Part Time Associate Patient Care Coordinator to join our growing team.
Responsibilities
- Greet and check in/check out patients
- Verifies patient demographics and insurance information
- Collections outstanding balances, co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurances
- Schedules future appointments
- Filing, faxing, and maintaining medical records
- Completing pending actions like referrals and scheduling appointments
- Performing general clerical duties
- Maintaining communication needs between patients, families, practice providers, and staff
- Participating in performance improvement activities
- Greeting patients professionally and directing them to appropriate areas
- Collecting payments, printing receipts, and posting payments
- Scanning and filing patients’ information if needed
- Reconciling cash drawer daily and sending deposits to Department manager
- Following Payment Security policy and procedures according to Optum Medical guidelines
- Retrieving and sorting mail into appropriate boxes
- Sorting and documenting any returned mail
- Maintaining a good working relationship with practice staff members
- Performing all other duties assigned
- Maintaining dress code standards: appearance is neat and clean
- Completing annual/monthly education requirements
- Reporting to work on time and as scheduled
- Completing work in a timely manner
- Attending staff meetings
- Ensuring patient confidentiality
- Complying with all practice policies and procedures
- Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- 1+ year of customer service or healthcare related experience
- 1+ year of computer proficiency experience in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, etc.)
- The schedule includes mandatory weekend coverage on Saturdays and Sundays
- Candidates must be flexible and willing to provide coverage at other locations when necessary
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year of experience working in medical office position performing duties such as scheduling appointments, checking patients in/out, insurance verification, collecting co-pays, and maintaining medical records
- Knowledge of EMR (ECW)
- Knowledge of insurance carriers and managed care plans
- Knowledge of medical terminology

- Ability to work independently and as a team, and maintain good judgment and accountability
- Demonstrated ability to work well with health care providers
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet all deadlines
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely, conveying information in a manner that others can understand, as well as ability to understand and interpret information from others
