Pursue your passion and potential. Optum is seeking a Part Time Associate Patient Care Coordinator to join our growing team.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and check in/check out patients
  • Verifies patient demographics and insurance information
  • Collections outstanding balances, co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurances
  • Schedules future appointments
  • Filing, faxing, and maintaining medical records
  • Completing pending actions like referrals and scheduling appointments
  • Performing general clerical duties
  • Maintaining communication needs between patients, families, practice providers, and staff
  • Participating in performance improvement activities
  • Greeting patients professionally and directing them to appropriate areas
  • Collecting payments, printing receipts, and posting payments
  • Scanning and filing patients’ information if needed
  • Reconciling cash drawer daily and sending deposits to Department manager
  • Following Payment Security policy and procedures according to Optum Medical guidelines
  • Retrieving and sorting mail into appropriate boxes
  • Sorting and documenting any returned mail
  • Maintaining a good working relationship with practice staff members
  • Performing all other duties assigned
  • Maintaining dress code standards: appearance is neat and clean
  • Completing annual/monthly education requirements
  • Reporting to work on time and as scheduled
  • Completing work in a timely manner
  • Attending staff meetings
  • Ensuring patient confidentiality
  • Complying with all practice policies and procedures
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1+ year of customer service or healthcare related experience
  • 1+ year of computer proficiency experience in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, etc.)
  • The schedule includes mandatory weekend coverage on Saturdays and Sundays
  • Candidates must be flexible and willing to provide coverage at other locations when necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ year of experience working in medical office position performing duties such as scheduling appointments, checking patients in/out, insurance verification, collecting co-pays, and maintaining medical records
  • Knowledge of EMR (ECW)
  • Knowledge of insurance carriers and managed care plans
  • Knowledge of medical terminology

  • Demonstrated ability to work well with health care providers
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet all deadlines
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely, conveying information in a manner that others can understand, as well as ability to understand and interpret information from others
