Part-time Associate - 451 San Jose

About the role

The Part-time Associate at Smart & Final, 451 San Jose, is responsible for providing excellent customer service, interacting with the community, and managing store sections. This position requires basic PC/Outlook skills and may involve tasks such as stocking shelves, operating cash registers, and carrying out services.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a store section as assigned and may order, receive, and stock merchandise.
• Ensure proper pricing on merchandise and check product date codes.
• Stock shelves, end displays, floor stacks, displays, and refrigerated/frozen cases.
• Prepare perishable products for sale.
• Set up advertising/promotional displays.
• Review invoices/bills for accuracy.
• Clean and maintain sanitation standards in all areas of the store and parking lot.
• Operate a cash register, process payments, and make change or handle check/charge/debit transactions.
• Process cash and/or credit refunds, verify customer eligibility for alcohol sales, and offer assistance to customers.
• Load customer purchases by assisting customers to their vehicles.
• Perform basic bookkeeping duties and record lost/damaged goods and store supplies.

Requirements

• Ability to read and write English.
• Ability to interact with the general public and co-workers.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, product pricing codes, shelf tags, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
• Ability to perform detailed tasks as instructed.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 45 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
