About the role

The Non-Instructional Student Support role focuses on fostering a high touch approach to educational support, empowering families to increase their involvement and assist in their student’s education, and facilitating engagement in school activities.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between students, Learning Coaches, and teachers/administration
  • Contact late starting or missing students by phone and work to quickly ensure a Strong Start at the school
  • Maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 8-5 or as defined by the school
  • Oversee a caseload of students assigned as their main point of contact with the school
  • Initiate meaningful, recurring contact by phone with students and their Learning Coach
  • Initiate larger student support interventions when a student begins showing signs of academic decline
  • Arrange support conferences as needed to address performance concerns
  • Assist students in creating plans to get back on track
  • Provide outreach, training, and support to families who respond to Students First Check In surveys
  • Increase professional knowledge and skills by attending required staff meetings, participating in school and K12 sponsored Professional Development, and seeking other professional learning opportunities
  • Participate in State testing as required

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Residency Requirement: Missouri residents preferred
  • This position is virtual

  • Adaptable and comfortable in a fast-paced work environment
  • Experience coordinating academically oriented clubs and extra-curricular activities
  • Familiarity with the online learning experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Web proficiency
  • Ability to work independently, typically 20+ hours per week is required
  • Ability to travel 20% of the time

  • Ability to learn new technology tools quickly (e.g. database and web-based tools)
