Part-time Adult Educators - English as a Second Language

About the role

The Nassau BOCES Department of Regional Schools and Instructional Programs is seeking Part-time Adult Educators to support the Adult English as a Second Language program at the Adult Learning Center in Garden City. Classes will be held on weekdays, evenings, and Saturdays.

Responsibilities

• Teaching beginner to advanced levels of English speaking, reading, and writing to adult learners
• Maintaining accurate attendance records
• Fulfilling 14 hours of New York State mandated professional development

Requirements

• New York State Education Department (NYSED) Certification in a K-12 Academic Area
• NYSED Certification: English to Speakers of Other Language (ESOL), Literacy, and/or Bilingual Education Extension is preferred
• Prior experience as a classroom teacher
• Ability to work weekdays, evenings, and/or Saturdays
