Parks Technician
About the role
The City of Neenah Parks Department is seeking a Parks Technician who is a motivated, self-starting problem solver. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in athletic field maintenance, grounds upkeep, and general building maintenance, including janitorial work; basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry, and mechanical tasks; as well as strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Athletic field and total grounds maintenance inclusive of field layout, turf care, trimming, pick-up, minor structure repair and construction, operating various machinery / power tools such as saws, line trimmers, lawn mowers, tractor/loaders, etc.
- Performs other landscaping duties in parks and other City property, including planting, maintaining, and/or renovating flower and shrub beds; applying fertilizer, herbicides and insecticides as needed.
- Performs a wide variety of custodial tasks in public buildings and facilities including cleaning floors, windows, walls, ceilings, light fixtures, ducts, sinks, lavatories, urinals and removing trash.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Associates degree is preferred.
- One to three years’ experience in park grounds and facilities maintenance, horticulture, natural resources or forestry closely related fields required.
- Additional training or experience in special trades such as carpentry, landscaping, masonry or related fields desirable.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (Class B with an N endorsement) or ability to obtain within two years of hire.
Full Pay Range
The full pay range is $24.01-$34.32 with an expected hiring range of $24.01-$28.70 depending on qualifications.
