Parks Technician

Responsibilities

• Performs landscaping duties including mowing, weed eating, trimming trees and shrubs, pulling weeds, edging lawns, raking, watering plants and trees, sweeping, and clearing fallen trees
• Handles maintenance of existing and construction of new park equipment (benches, tables, signs, etc.)
• Repairs and maintains equipment (mowers, playground, picnic tables, etc.)
• Makes daily rounds of the grounds; cleans restrooms
• Operates a variety of landscaping equipment including mowers, edgers, and weed eaters
• Operates some heavy equipment including trucks and tractors
• Picks up litter and debris from the grounds and parking lots; empties trash containers
• Performs general maintenance on equipment including refueling, changing oil, lubricating parts, and making minor adjustments
• Operates a variety of hand tools, shovels, hoes, rakes, loppers, litter sticks, and saws
• Assists in snow removal
• Performs daily safety check-out/in procedures on equipment
• Locates and marks gravesites according to section, lot, and plot numbers for excavation
• Opens and closes graves
• Sets up canopy and arranges folding chairs to prepare site for burial service
• Assists visitors with questions regarding plots, gravesites, mausoleums, and cemetery
• Tests and maintains daily chemical levels on pool during swimming season
• Attends mandatory monthly safety meetings
• Wears personal protective equipment, as required
• Helps other team members accomplish tasks
• Abides by all standards, conduct, and policies as stated in the Employee Handbook
• Maintains a continuous improvement mindset and approach to completing all job tasks
• Performs other duties as assigned
