Nature of Work
This is special duty firefighting work in the protection of life and property by the operation of firefighting apparatus. The primary responsibility is the driving of fire apparatus to fires and the operation of pumpers, ladder trucks and other specialized equipment under the emergency fire conditions. An employee of this class is responsible for the routine maintenance and minor repair of assigned apparatus during an assigned shift. An employee may be assigned to fire prevention inspection work, to the operation of hydrants, or to general firefighting work.
Minimum Training and Experience
- Graduation from a standard high school
- 5 or more continuous years of experience as a firefighter
