Parks Maintenance Worker - Mower- Part Time Temporary

About the role

Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled park maintenance tasks including mowing and trimming park turf areas, raking, weeding, litter removal, and assisting with special event preparation, facility setup, and general park upkeep. Incumbents receive general supervision from the Irrigation Specialist, Parks Coordinator, and/or Maintenance Supervisors. Expected to work independently on routine assignments.

Responsibilities

• Mow and trim park turf areas
• Rake, weed, and remove litter from park grounds
• Assist with special event preparation and facility setup
• Perform general park upkeep tasks
• Operate mowing equipment, weed whacker, blowers, and other landscape maintenance tools safely and efficiently
• Perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance
• Identify hazards such as debris, irrigation heads, uneven terrain, and unsafe conditions
• Follow safety procedures and department policies

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old at the time of hire
• Possess a valid Arizona driver's license
• Familiar with safely towing and maneuvering trailers as part of daily operational duties
• Able to perform physical work outdoors under all weather conditions
• Able to perform manual labor for extended periods of time in outdoor weather conditions
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
• Ability to work independently with general supervision
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and the public
• Ability to assist with general park maintenance tasks and special event setup as required

Skills

• Knowledge of park and turf maintenance practices and procedures
• Knowledge of the safe operation of mowing and landscape maintenance equipment

Pay & schedule

• Pay Range: $19.00 per hour
• FLSA Status: Non-exempt, eligible for overtime compensation
• Part-time, temporary position
• Not eligible for all benefits, will accrue paid sick time
• Evening, weekend and holiday work may be required depending on special events
