About the role
The Parks Director oversees the management and maintenance of parks, open spaces, and recreational facilities within San Mateo County. This role requires strong leadership skills and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder relationships.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the planning, development, and implementation of park improvement projects
- Manage the day-to-day operations of county parks and facilities
- Develop and maintain partnerships with local government agencies, non-profit organizations, and community groups
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to parks and recreation
- Develop and manage budgets for park-related activities and programs
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to organize and conduct community events and activities
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in parks and recreation administration, urban planning, environmental science, or a related field
- A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in parks and recreation management
- A valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Experience managing large-scale projects and leading teams
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
