About the role

The Porter is responsible for the overall basic general cleaning of the common garage area while providing exceptional hospitality services in an attentive, friendly, and efficient manner to all guests during their entire stay. The Porter is also responsible for the basic and general upkeep of the garage facility equipment and common area waste receptacles, as well as assisting with any type of customer issue in the parking area, including lock-outs, flat tires, battery jumps, general landscaping, snow removal, and lost vehicle assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Cleanliness check each shift of all guest entrances/elevator landings in the entire garage, including emptying all ash urns daily and trash receptacles at ½ full or higher, and sweeping all litter and cigarette butts in the common landing area (20%).
  • Use a mop or power washer to eliminate stains in the common area resulting from liquid spills. Wipe all signage and wayfinding material in the common area, including pay-on-foot stations, with appropriate cleaning solutions and cloth (20%).
  • Maintain general cleaning of the garage using a mobile garbage can, broom, and dustpan to remove debris (e.g., cans, bottles, cups) from around and between vehicles, ledges, and walls. Use paint-safe solution or power washer to eliminate stains from pillars and columns (15%).
  • Wipe all signage and wayfinding materials at garage vehicular entrances and exits, as well as equipment (gates, gate arms, card reading equipment, and attached signage) with appropriate cleaning materials (15%).
  • Empty all returned guest key receptacles at garage exits and return them to the Towne Park MOD for redistribution. Power wash garage entrances/exits as needed (10%).
  • Perform general landscaping duties and snow removal from entrance/exit ramps, walkways, and designated areas, applying salt/sand to prevent freezing (10%).
  • Assist guests with directions, inquiries, and information about the surrounding area and main attractions (5%).
  • Protect guest confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA requirements and maintain the security of customer financial and identifying information (5%).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and able to pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle record, and drug screen.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • One to three months of related experience and/or training without a diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Customer service experience preferred.

Skills

  • Ability to read and write Standard English.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Understanding of 24-hour and military time systems.
  • Ability to understand rates applicable to time passed.

Pay

Starting pay: $15–$18 per hour.

Schedule

4–8 hour shifts available, including weekdays, weekends, and all shifts.
