Parking Enforcement Specialist
BASIC FUNCTION
Patrols specific areas within the City limits of Moscow and the University of Idaho campus zones to enforce parking regulations.
Essential Functions
- Maintains compliance with parking regulations.
- Issues and processes citations.
- Answers questions from the general public.
- Reports abandoned or stolen vehicles.
- Keeps records as required.
- Testifies in court.
- Processes and coordinates towing of abandoned vehicles.
Required Education and Experience
- Graduation from high school or GED.
- Some experience in dealing with the public is desirable.
Required Licenses and Certifications
- Valid Drivers License.
Competencies
- Knowledge of parking regulations.
- Ability to demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues, supervisors, and members of the public.
- Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Ability to walk long distances and work independently.
- Microsoft Suite and Spillman skills.
Work Environment
- Outdoor work.
- Seasonal heat and cold, and temperature changes.
- Regular exposure to fumes, dust, and odors.
- Driving a vehicle.
Working Conditions
- Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally.
- Walking over rough or uneven surfaces.
- Climbing stairs.
- Bending at the waist, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Turning/twisting.
- Speaking and exchanging information.
- Contact with dissatisfied or abusive individuals.
- Driving a vehicle during adverse weather conditions.
- Fumes from vehicle or equipment operation.
- Extreme weather conditions.
Travel
- Regular travel within the City and County.
- Occasional travel outside of local area.
