Park Technician

Table Rock State Park offers the natural beauty of scenic Highway 11, featuring a towering mountain backdrop, 3,000 acres of parkland, cabins, a campground, and swimming areas on two lakes.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and upkeep of state parks, including repair and construction of facilities, operation and repair of motorized equipment, groundskeeping, and landscaping.
• Assist with park administration and visitor services.
• Maintain and repair motorized equipment and perform preventive maintenance on facilities and equipment.
• Keep maintenance records and assist in planning and scheduling the park’s maintenance program, including tool and equipment inventory and identifying short- and long-term needs.
• Support the safety program by following workplace safety requirements and using PPE.
• Assist in maintaining and constructing the Table Rock State Park trail system.
• Perform miscellaneous repairs and park improvements, including carpentry, masonry, electrical, plumbing, landscaping, and groundskeeping.
• Conduct clean-up and housekeeping activities to ensure the attractiveness, cleanliness, and safety of park grounds and facilities.
• Assist with park operations, including traffic control, search and rescue, park patrols, camper registration, and other assigned duties.
• Promote teamwork within the State Park Service, across the agency, and with external stakeholders.
• Serve as an active member on agency teams as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of general maintenance experience.
• Ability to perform medium to heavy lifting, walking, and standing on uneven terrain, crawling, and working at heights.
• Exposure to weather conditions, cleaning agents, and other materials used in maintaining park facilities and grounds.
• Ability to read and understand written procedures and directions, and perform simple arithmetic computations.
• Ability to operate a variety of power tools.
• Valid South Carolina Driver’s License.

Schedule

• Full-time, 40 hours per week with a rotating schedule including weekends and holidays.
