Park Seasonal (Attendant/Concessionaire, Waukesha County Parks)

The Waukesha County Park System is seeking dedicated, innovative, and genuine individuals to join our team as a Park Seasonal. This is a limited-term position; when the term ends, it is considered a voluntary resignation.

Prior to hiring, the final candidate is required to pass work/education/certification reference checks and a criminal background and driver's license check.

Responsibilities

• Concessionaire: Work in the concession stand, collect fees for firewood, sell concession items, manage inventory, and maintain/clean the concession stand. Operate a cash register, provide change, and complete paperwork to balance the assigned money drawer at the end of the shift.
• Park Attendant: Perform overall maintenance of the park or golf course, including:
  • Cut grass using heavy-duty equipment
  • Collect and dump refuse/garbage
  • Clean restrooms and pit toilets
  • Paint and maintain tools and equipment

Requirements

• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including providing excellent customer service.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
• Ability to interact sensitively with persons from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, ethnic, and professional backgrounds, and persons of all ages and lifestyles.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to safely operate equipment necessary to perform the duties of the position.
• Ability to accurately count and handle money, and operate a cash register.
• Ability to withstand exposure to variable and unfavorable weather conditions.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push/pull, and lift up to 10-20 lbs on an occasional basis.

Qualifications

• 14 years of age.
• 8th grade education.

Desirable Skills

• Cash handling and customer service work experience.
• Recent unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor involving the maintenance, construction, and repair of park facilities.
• Valid Driver's License.
