Park Operations Worker I

About the role

The City of Fredericksburg is seeking a dedicated individual to join their team as a Part Time – Seasonal Park Operations Worker. This position offers a chance to contribute to the beautification of the community while working outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Performing semi-skilled tasks related to grounds keeping in parks and public facilities, including mowing and landscaping.
• Operating various hand and power equipment, as well as delivering and setting up equipment for City events and programs.
• Performing custodial tasks and completing necessary paperwork, such as work orders and daily reports.
• Aiding with clean-up operations for storm debris when required.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Valid Virginia Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with co-workers, supervisory staff, and customers.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, weekends, some evenings, and fluctuating shifts based on park needs and scheduled events.

• Criminal background and driving record checks are required.
