Park Maintenance Worker (Semi Skilled Laborer) (Seasonal) - Laurel Hill State Park Complex

The Park Maintenance Worker with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources helps keep Laurel Hill State Park safe, welcoming, and well cared for. This role allows you to work with tools, equipment, and facilities that support visitors and protect natural resources. This position supports the operation and upkeep of facilities across the Laurel Hill complex by performing repairs, construction tasks, and routine maintenance to protect park resources.

Responsibilities

• Facility Maintenance: Assist in repair and upkeep of tools, equipment, machinery, buildings, and bridges
• Sign Installation: Help construct, paint, and install bulletin boards and signs for public information
• Structural Repair: Replace floors, walls, siding, and sills on park buildings
• Masonry Support: Assist with masonry work on sidewalks, chimneys, and stone structures
• Grounds Care: Mow grass by operating various tractors and mowers
• Trail Work: Perform brushing, blazing, clearing, and improvements to trail tread and drainage

Requirements

One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.

Possession of a valid PA non‑commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent is required.

Must meet the PA residency requirement.

Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Benefits

This is a seasonal, full‑time position with no healthcare benefits; there is no option to buy into health care benefits.

Schedule

The position runs from approximately March 2026 through November 2026, after which the employee will be placed on leave without pay and automatically returned to employment approximately March 2027. Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM with a 30‑minute lunch, averaging 5 days and 37.5 hours per week. Shifts and days vary and may include weekends and holidays as needed. Telework is not available.
