Paratransit Operator

Position Purpose

RYDE Racine's Paratransit services in Racine provide ADA-compliant, Dial-a-Ride Transportation for seniors and individuals with mobility challenges. Essential Duties

• Safe operation of the bus according to established rules, practices and published schedules
• Comply with DOT/FTA and ADA guidelines, rules and regulations
• Provides general information to passengers on how to use the D.A.R.T. transportation services provided by RYDE Racine
• Collect fares and D.A.R.T. tickets from passengers and account for daily fares on required paperwork
• Treat all customers with friendliness and consideration
• Take special care to meet the needs of persons with disabilities per ADA and company guidelines
• Operate lift in accordance with proper procedures
• Secure wheelchairs properly
• Perform safety and operational inspection of bus to ensure passenger comfort and bus reliability
• Report any defects to maintenance personnel on proper forms
• Conform to all bulletins and special notices
• Comply with current labor agreement between union and management
• Take direction from supervisors and dispatchers
• Report to work on time and maintain good attendance record
• Complete reports and other paperwork as required
• Must be able to work irregular hours

Physical Demands

• Performance requires a normal physical ability to do some bending, light lifting and carrying
• Ability to pass a physical examination and drug test
• This is a safety-sensitive position, subject to random drug/alcohol testing per DOT rules and regulations

Minimum Qualifications

• Must have a valid WI drivers license

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency

• Ability to communicate well with the public
• Good customer relations and people skills
• Must be able to read and complete basic reports
• Good driving record
