Key Responsibilities
- Prepare teaching materials and tutor individual students under the supervision of the instructor.
- Communicate the progress of the students to the instructor.
- Perform such duties as may relate to the motivation and achievement of students in academic and skills areas.
- Assist with behavior interventions under the direction of the instructor.
- Assist with routine daily activities, including bus duty, recess, lunch, bathroom (may include diapering), etc.
- Provide support in a classroom environment by working directly with teachers and students.
- Maintain accurate records and logs.
- Design and/or prepare training/instructional materials, teaching aids and devices.
Qualifications
- Practical knowledge of basic classroom techniques and organization.
- American Sign Language (ASL) skills required for assignments in the ASL classrooms.
- Techiques for assisting and providing effective support to classroom instructors.
- Practical skills in working effectively with students.
- Safe and timely response to special classroom situations.
- Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
- Communicate clearly and effectively.
- Enter, transcribe, record, store, or maintain information in either written or electronic form.
- Deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.
- Maintain strict confidentiality.
- Ability to drive a state vehicle is required.

Schedule
