Academies of Math and Science – Camelback Campus Paraprofessional (Teacher’s Assistant) Location: 6633 W Camelback Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85033 Start Date: 2026–2027 School Year Compensation: $15.50 – $17.00 per hour, DOE Position Overview Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities. AMS is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessional (Teacher’s Assistant) to support teachers and scholars in creating a positive, structured, and engaging learning environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, collaborative, and passionate about helping students succeed. This position works closely with classroom teachers to provide academic, behavioral, and instructional support to scholars while helping maintain a safe and productive classroom environment. Key Responsibilities Instructional Support Assist classroom teachers with daily instructional activities and classroom lessonsProvide individual and small-group academic support to scholarsReinforce classroom instruction and assist students with assignments and learning activitiesSupport differentiated instruction based on individual student needsMonitor student progress and communicate observations to classroom teachersAssist with preparing instructional materials and classroom resources Classroom Management & Student Support Help maintain a positive, structured, and safe classroom environmentSupport classroom routines, procedures, and behavioral expectationsImplement PBIS strategies and preventative intervention techniquesProvide behavioral and social-emotional support to scholars as directed by the classroom teacherSupervise students during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, recess, and other school activities as assigned Collaboration & Professional Growth Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, special education staff, and campus leadershipParticipate in professional development and training opportunitiesMaintain open and professional communication with staff regarding student needs and progressFollow campus policies, procedures, and student support plans Family & Student Engagement Build positive and respectful relationships with scholars and familiesMaintain professionalism and confidentiality when working with students and familiesEncourage students to develop independence, confidence, and positive learning habits Minimum Qualifications Candidates must meet the following requirements: High school diploma or GEDPrevious experience working with children or in an educational setting preferredAbility to work effectively with elementary and/or middle school studentsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work collaboratively with teachers and campus staffCommitment to supporting students in Title I and multilingual learner communitiesAbility to maintain a positive, professional, and student-centered environment Preferred Qualifications Previous paraprofessional, teacher assistant, childcare, or classroom support experienceExperience working with students with diverse learning needsExperience working in a Title I or high-need school environmentExperience supporting English Language LearnersBilingual (Spanish-English) preferred Compensation & Benefits AMS offers a competitive compensation and benefits package designed to support professional growth and long-term career success.
