Position Summary
Aid teachers in monitoring the learning center and supporting students' progress.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED holder
- Experience working with students or parents, approved by superintendent
- Experience in church-related schools, day camps, youth groups, private schools, licensed daycare centers, or similar settings
- High school student aged 18 or older with a final grade of 70 or better in specified education and training courses, verified by superintendent
- Courses must cover Instructional Practices or Practicum in Education and Training, totaling at least three credits
- 6+ months of experience working in public or private schools (preferred)
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)
- Passion for children
- Patient and interactive with children
- Knowledge of federal and state education laws
- Computer literacy
- Strong organizational, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to learn and implement teaching curriculum software and instruct students
- Ability to follow instructions verbally and in writing
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Effective management of multiple priorities
- Development and maintenance of positive working relationships
- Travel as necessary
Responsibilities And Duties
- Assist teacher or coordinator in all areas of work
- Implement instructional programs and lesson plans under supervisor's guidance
- Support understanding of assessments
- Check daily goals to ensure completion
- Motivate students for optimal learning
- Participate in faculty and professional meetings, conferences, and workshops
- Inspire students through consistency, care, and interest to boost self-esteem and future success
- Praise, compliment, and encourage students to foster character development
- Facilitate activities promoting speaking, listening, reading, and writing in English
- Perform special projects outside regular hours and other tasks as assigned
- Follow supervisor's instructions for additional duties
