Paraprofessional - Anticipated

About the role

Under the general supervision of the Classroom Teacher the paraprofessional will assist teacher in the kindergarten/1st grade classroom with lessons, activities, organization, and student supervision.

Requirements

• High School Diploma; Associates degree preferred.
• Successful completion of Work Keys Test.
• Valid Paraprofessional Licensure from the Illinois State Board of Education.
• Previous paraprofessional experience with elementary school-aged children preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods standing and walking throughout school and classroom.
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• Must be able to traverse classroom and adjust one’s tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child.

Schedule

• At-will employment.
• 180 day/10 month position.
• Annual evaluation conducted by building Principal and/or Assistant Principal.
• Salary and increase set by Superintendent.

Working Conditions

In person and on site in a school/classroom environment. Close contact with school age children.
