About the role

Serves the educational, behavioral, social-emotional, physical, and daily living needs of elementary students with disabilities in various settings.

Responsibilities

  • Supports academic, health, daily living, and behavioral needs as outlined in students' Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Maintains classroom activities, assignments, and materials under the guidance of the supervising teacher.
  • Performs daily living tasks such as toileting, diapering, feeding, and personal hygiene, following universal precautions.
  • Administers medically invasive procedures like tube feeding, catheterization, and suctioning, as trained and directed.
  • Lifts and transports students using appropriate equipment and techniques, adhering to District training guidelines.
  • Applies student accommodations and modifications across academic and non-academic settings during the school day.
  • Collects data on students' IEP goals under the supervision of a special education teacher.
  • Communicates with students and parents regarding routine educational matters, as directed by the supervising special education teacher.

Requirements

  • Must pass District-approved written and physical exams covering de-escalation and physical restraint training annually.
  • Must complete specialized training in invasive procedures, such as tube feeding and catheterization, as required by the assignment.
  • Must have a valid Colorado driver's license or be able to obtain one within the state's required timeframe for new residents, and meet the District's insurability requirements for transporting students or using personal/company vehicles.

Pay

New hires will be set at $22.824 per hour. The salary range for internal candidates is $22.824 to $27.275 per hour. For detailed compensation information, view the Para Salary Schedule. The salary listed reflects the 2025–2026 school year. Salaries for the 2026–2027 school year are typically finalized and released mid-summer, with an effective date of August 1. If any updates or adjustments are made once the new salary schedule is finalized, all impacted individuals will receive the updated salary.
