$22.50–30.09/hour

Schedule

Shifts may include days, evenings, nights, and/or swing. Required to work some weekends and holidays.

About the Role

The paramedic will work a mixture of assignments on UK ambulances and in both UK Chandler and Good Samaritan emergency departments.

• Ambulance duties: respond to emergency calls on the UK medical campus, conduct long and short distance interfacility transports, and perform specialty transports using ventilators, IV pumps, and other equipment.
• Daily operational tasks: check equipment and perform ambulance maintenance.
• Emergency department duties: complement the nursing role within the Kentucky scope of practice, administer medications, chart, monitor patients, and perform other patient care tasks.

Responsibilities

• Monitor vital signs
• Insert IVs, NGTs, and urinary catheters
• Assist with 12-lead EKGs
• Assist with wound care
• Assist with suctioning
• Complete proper documentation

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Licensed Paramedic and valid Driver’s License
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for the Healthcare Provider
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (valid for at least 6 months after employment date)

Physical Requirements

• Regularly stand or walk with objects weighing up to 10 pounds
• Lift, push, and/or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds
• Intermittently lift, push, and/or pull objects weighing over 50 pounds
• Stand or walk with objects weighing up to 25 pounds
• Occasionally sit at a computer workstation for extended periods
• Perform tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing)
• Work in confined spaces
• Job-related travel (less than 10% of time)
• Exposure to risk of injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials
• Exposure to temperature extremes, hazardous chemicals and fumes (including waste), radiation, burns, cuts/punctures, blood-borne or airborne pathogens, and combative/violent people

Preferred Qualifications

• Three years of paramedic experience
• Current Kentucky Paramedic certification or licensure
• Nationally Registered EMT (NREMT)
