Paramedic - PRN
Responsibilities
- Follows prescribed standing orders and performs a variety of invasive and non-invasive therapies.
- Evaluates the ill and injured, performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation, draws blood samples for analysis, applies dressings and bandages.
- Prepares and documents concise and comprehensive written reports.
- Documents all interventions and patient data in the Emergency Room record.
- Performs emergency medical treatment services at the basic and advanced life support levels at the direction of the Emergency Department physician.
- Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary work team.
- Performs delegated aspects of age-appropriate patient care under the direction of the physician.
- Reinforces patient/family teaching provided by the RN and documents appropriately.
- Communicates with patients, visitors, and staff in a timely and efficient manner.
- Communicates abnormal variances of data (vital signs, pain, labs, etc.) to appropriate staff.
Requirements
- Minimum of high school diploma or GED.
- Maintain current state emergency medical technician and/or EMT-Paramedic License.
- Current certification/licensure as a Paramedic.
- 5 years field experience.
- BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications.
- Able to handle a significant number of stressful situations and function calmly.
- Works smoothly and professionally within an environment where teamwork is essential.
Qualifications
Physical Demands/Work Environment: Work requires a variety of physical activities including sitting, standing, and walking. Bending, stooping, and lifting are minimal. The work environment may be physically confining. Visual acuity required for a variety of activities. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
