About the role

The EMT-Paramedic is responsible for implementing nursing and patient care based on knowledge and experience. Key functions include collecting patient health data, identifying expected outcomes individualized to the patient, implementing interventions identified in the plan of care, and evaluating the patient's progress toward attainment of those outcomes.

This role involves effective interaction with families and interdisciplinary team members to maximize efforts and resources, ensuring quality patient care based on established clinical practice standards. The EMT-Paramedic works cooperatively with medical staff and other hospital personnel to support the plan of care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in a multicultural environment.

The EMT-Paramedic addresses the biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and educational needs of patients and their families while serving as a clinical resource to physicians, other personnel, and management. The role also supports the organizational vision and mission, contributes to quality nursing care through performance improvement activities, and is responsible for self-development.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of EMT-Paramedic.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license and driving record in accordance with facility policy.
  • Current applicable state EMS Paramedic license.
  • BCLS certification (required annually).
  • ACLS certification (encouraged).
  • Certification in a related specialty (encouraged).
