Paramedic Pool Weekends - LGH/PRN Nights

Responsibilities

• Assesses nature and extent of illness / injury to establish and prioritize medical care.
• Provides appropriate patient care interventions such as basic life support needs, IV insertion, fluid and medication administration, advanced airway techniques, cardiac rhythm interpretations and monitoring, pacing and defibrillation.
• Provides emergent care, routine and non-emergent care, and transportation to patients as needed by ambulance.
• Gathers and submits appropriate patient data necessary for continued treatment.
• Demonstrates ability to prioritize multiple tasks to accomplish work assignments in a timely manner.
• Completes documentation and submits in a timely manner.
• Interacts and communicates information and ideas to all levels of personnel within the organization.
• Recognizes and appropriately intervenes in conflicts with personnel, patients, and other customers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Virginia Paramedic or EMT-Intermediate certification required.
• American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support, American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support, American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR required.
• VAVRS or VDFP EVOC required.
• Hazardous Materials Awareness required within the first year of employment.
• FEMA ICS 100, 200, and 700 preferred.
• Associate degree in healthcare or related field preferred.
• Previous pre-hospital EMS or transport experience preferred.
• National registry paramedic preferred.
