Paramedic Critical Care - LGH/Part Time Nights

Responsibilities

• Assesses nature and extent of illness / injury to establish and prioritize medical care.
• Provides appropriate patient care interventions such as basic life support needs, IV insertion, fluid and medication administration, advanced airway techniques, cardiac rhythm interpretations and monitoring, pacing and defibrillation, ventilator management, and blood administration.
• Provides emergent care, routine and non-emergent care, and transportation to patients as needed by ambulance.
• Gathers and submits appropriate patient data necessary for continued treatment.
• Demonstrates ability to prioritize multiple tasks to accomplish work assignments in a timely manner.
• Completes documentation and submits in a timely manner.
• Interacts and communicates information and ideas to all levels of personnel within the organization.
• Recognizes and appropriately intervenes in conflicts with personnel, patients, and other customers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Virginia Paramedic certification required.
• American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support or recognized equivalent required for hire.
• AHA ACLS is required within 6 months of hire.
• American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support or recognized equivalent required for hire.
• AHA PALS is required within 6 months of hire.
• American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR required or recognized equivalent required for hire.
• AHA BLS is required within 6 months of hire.
• VAVRS or VDFP EVOC required.
• Hazardous Materials Awareness required within the first year of employment.
• FEMA ICS 100, 200, and 700 Completed.
• Centra’s Critical Care Transport Training program completed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associates’ Degree in healthcare or related field
• Previous pre-hospital EMS or transport experience
• National Registry Paramedic preferred.
