About the Role

Covenant Health Emergency Medical Services (EMS) ensures rapid response with specially trained personnel and a fleet of vehicles equipped with cutting-edge technology. The Community/Mobile Integrated Health (CP/MIH) Paramedic functions within Covenant Health Mobile-Integrated Health Programs and the EMS System, primarily acting as a member of the MIH team for Hospital-at-Home patients.

The community paramedic is dispatched to set up and evaluate the patient in their home, establishing remote monitoring technology, conducting physical assessments, medication reconciliation, assisting with medication administration, and collaborating with an RN (primary nurse) and provider team responsible for ongoing oversight and care of the patient.

Responsibilities

  • Works hand-in-hand with a virtual RN to manage the care of patients in their homes as part of the Hospital-at-Home program.
  • Communicates with other members of the interdisciplinary team, including MIH team members, management, and outside agencies.
  • Collaborates with patients, their families, public safety agencies, training institutions, hospital personnel, and others as needed.
  • Ensures Patient Care Reports (PCRs) and other documentation are complete and timely, per company policy.
  • Manages all aspects of CP/MIH vehicles and clinical equipment, including daily cleaning and maintenance.
  • Manages supply inventory and ensures adequate supplies for operations.
  • Ensures daily narcotic logs and vehicle checks (on-board supplies/equipment) are completed.
  • Facilitates scheduling needs, equipment and supply maintenance, and other daily operational support functions as assigned.
  • Supports other programs and divisions within the Covenant EMS System, including acting as the primary provider for interfacility transports.
  • Remains up-to-date on all regulatory training (clinical, non-clinical, CME, etc.) and ensures certifications are uploaded into appropriate systems.
  • Coordinates with the CP/MIH Manager and/or EMS Medical Director to develop specific training plans as needed.
  • Prepares reports and manages projects as assigned by the CP/MIH Manager.
  • Ensures compliance with lab rules (e.g., CLIA) and coordinates with IT teams for system account setup and maintenance.
  • Complies with all local, state, and federal employment laws and follows policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Completes required education assignments annually and participates in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years full-time experience as a paramedic or experience as an RN in an acute care setting.
  • Must have and maintain a TN Paramedic license OR a valid, unrestricted license in any Compact Member state.
  • Must have and maintain a TN Critical Care Paramedic certification and a TN Community Paramedic Certification.
  • ACLS and BLS certifications required.
  • Valid driver’s license and state-mandated minimum insurance coverage; driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards.
