Roles and Responsibilities
- Personal and patient safety
- Emergency care and patient assessment
- Safe lifting and moving, patient transport and transfer
- Record keeping and data collection
- Patient advocacy
Responsibilities
- Daily pre-run vehicle equipment preparation and inspection
- Vehicle and office cleaning
- Collections and documents all pertinent information
- Confirms dispatch information, determines best route to and from call, drives responsibly and safely
- Parks ambulance safely and determines additional resources needs, initiates assessment and treatment based on patient needs
- Contacts receiving facility and continues on going assessment and treatment as determined by patient needs per protocols and on line medical control
- Transfers patient, all records, and information to receiving facility staff
- Restocks ambulance, replaces drug boxes and equipment, and completes all reports and data information
Qualifications
- Current Alabama license as EMT Paramedic/Driver
- ACLS, BLS required
- PALS must be obtained within 90 days of employment
Additional Skills/Abilities
- Acceptable driver record
- Capable of working overtime as required
- Flexible to scheduling to meet the department and hospital staffing needs
