About the role

Banner Health Emergency Services is bringing a new state-of-the-art freestanding emergency department to Buckeye, AZ, opening in November 2026. The 14,500-square-foot facility will feature 14 fully-equipped exam spaces, one dedicated trauma/treatment room, and comprehensive diagnostic services including x-ray, CT scan, and ultrasound. While patients will not be admitted at this location, the ED will partner closely with Banner Estrella Medical Center to ensure seamless continuity of care.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document patient care in the emergency department under the medical direction of the base hospital EMS Medical Director.
  • Account for the quality of patient services delivered by self or others under their direction.
  • Evaluate patient acuity and match care needs to unit and hospital resources.
  • Assess data reflective of patient status and interpret information needed to identify each patient’s requirements.
  • Perform basic patient care within scope: positioning, transportation, phlebotomy, ECGs, spinal precautions.
  • Administer or monitor medications as ordered by a physician, limited to those approved for paramedic administration/monitoring in the state of practice.
  • Assist patient transfer using proper body mechanics and techniques.
  • Start peripheral intravenous lines (including external jugular), initiate infusion, and maintain/adjust fluid administration per physician order.
  • Perform cardiovascular monitoring and management within scope.
  • Perform airway management within scope and state guidelines: oxygen administration, tracheal suctioning, ventilation assistance, end-tidal CO₂ and pulse-ox monitoring.
  • Actively participate in resuscitation of critical patients.
  • Observe and monitor patients through the diagnostic phase of treatment.
  • Recognize changes in patient status and notify charge nurse/primary nurse and physician.
  • Keep charge or primary nurse informed of patient status and current activities.
  • Document assessments, reassessments, progress toward outcomes, responses to interventions, discharge plans, and services consulted.
  • Interact with staff at all levels, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts regarding patient care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
  • Current and valid Paramedic certification or license within the state of practice, maintained thereafter.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification required.
  • PALS required if working in the Emergency Department or with pediatric population.
  • Minimum two years of experience working in an Emergency Department.

Preferred Qualifications

  • FP-C or CCT-P Certification if working in ICU, Burn, or CVCU.
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

Schedule

  • Part-time positions available across multiple shifts.
  • Competitive shift differentials: $1 per hour for weekend shifts and an 18% premium for night shifts.
  • Full-time (3×12-hour shifts) and part-time (2×12-hour shifts) day positions (7:00 am–7:30 pm).
  • Weekend and holiday rotations with a varied schedule.
