About the role
The Paralegal will assist the attorneys and Eviction Defense Center workgroup in providing tenants with the assistance needed to fight, defend, and preserve their homes.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents and conducting legal research
- Work closely with clients to gather necessary documentation and information
- Prepare and file legal pleadings and motions
- Coordinate with court staff and other legal professionals to ensure timely and accurate filings
- Provide support in client intake and intake assessments
- Participate in case strategy meetings and provide input based on legal research and analysis
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant paralegal experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Qualifications
- Knowledge of California Civil Procedure and landlord-tenant law
- Experience working with low-income clients and understanding the challenges they face
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
- Experience with legal research databases and online legal resources

Pay
$54,080k - $71,165.59k/annually DOE, with excellent benefits
Schedule
Full-time, Monday through Friday, with some evening and weekend work required
