About the role
The Paralegal in this role will support attorneys handling worker's comp and general civil litigation matters. This is a hands-on position that requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced litigation environment while working collaboratively with attorneys, clients, and support staff.
Responsibilities
- Organize and analyze documentary evidence including medical records, reports, depositions, discovery materials, investigative documents, and claim files
- Create chronologies and summaries of medical and case-related records as requested
- Draft and prepare legal documents including pleadings, discovery responses, motions, subpoenas, correspondence, and reports under attorney direction
- Prepare and track subpoenas and records requests, including medical, billing, employment, and other relevant documents
- Conduct background research on parties, witnesses, and experts using online research tools
- Communicate professionally with clients, experts, court personnel, and opposing counsel
- Maintain organized physical and electronic case files and ensure compliance with court deadlines
- Perform additional litigation support duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 3+ years of paralegal experience in insurance defense or civil litigation, preferably in a high-volume law firm environment
- Experience reviewing and summarizing medical records preferred
- Familiarity with North Carolina court procedures and e-filing systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with minimal supervision
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Paralegal certificate a plus
