Paralegal Instructor, Part-time Adjunct Pool - East Kern, Tehachapi

About the Role

Kern Community College District is soliciting applications for part-time, hourly adjunct instructors to teach Paralegal (PARA) courses. This position is part of an adjunct pool, with applications remaining active for up to two years. The assignment may include teaching at various campus sites, day or evening classes, weekend classes, large classes, distance learning, and using multiple teaching methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in a full range of Paralegal (PARA) courses.
• Participate in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs for the Business/CIS department.
• Maintain subject matter currency and develop/revise curriculum.
• Use computer and multimedia technology in instruction.
• Engage in collegial participation in departmental, college, and discipline-specific professional activities.
• Assess student learning outcomes.
• Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities.

Requirements

• Any bachelor’s degree AND two years of work experience; OR
• Any associate’s degree AND six years of work experience; OR
• An equivalent combination of education, experience, and other accomplishments in the field.
• A demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
• Degrees and credits must be from accredited institutions (Title V Section 53406). Foreign degrees must be evaluated by a NACES or ACEI member organization.

• Ability to develop curriculum, including for different modalities (e.g., in-person, online).
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain subject matter currency.
• Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies for program benefit.
• Knowledge of and commitment to the California community college mission.

Pay

The starting hourly salary is $67.00. The hourly rate may vary based on the type of assignment and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula. For details, refer to the CCA collective bargaining agreement or your college HR office.
