About the role
Performs tasks and oversees processes/project components for the Legal Services team under limited supervision, ensuring work is aligned to organizational standards, solving problems and roadblocks as they occur. Provides advice and counsel across various areas of law related to an organization’s legal rights and obligations, including employment law and other legal matters. Supports the Legal Department with a primary focus on employment-based immigration coordination and legal operations.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with outside immigration counsel regarding employment-based immigration matters, including nonimmigrant and immigrant visa filings and related work authorization processes.
- Aid in preparation, collection, review, and organization of supporting documentation for visa petitions and immigration filings, including H-1B, TN, O-1, L-1, E-3, PERM, I-140, adjustment of status, OPT/STEM OPT, and other employment authorization matters.
- Serve as a liaison among employees, candidates, Human Resources, hiring managers, and outside counsel to facilitate timely immigration processing.
- Track case deadlines, expiration dates, filing calendars, prevailing wage timelines, Labor Condition Applications, and employee work authorization renewals.
- Review draft filings and supporting documentation for completeness, consistency, and accuracy prior to submission by outside counsel.
- Cook up immigration-related forms, attestations, and signatures.
- Maintain organized and confidential immigration files and records in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Aid Human Resources with onboarding processes involving foreign national employees and work authorization verification.
- Help monitor compliance with immigration-related recordkeeping and posting obligations.
- Prepare internal status reports and updates regarding pending immigration matters.
- Coordinate responses to routine requests for information and document collection from employees and outside counsel.
- Aid in immigration policy implementation and related internal processes.
- Assist with litigation, labor, regulatory, corporate governance, and contract administration projects as needed.
- Aid in responses to internal requests for information and document retrieval.
- Help maintain legal department policies, procedures, and operational workflows.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, Paralegal Certificate, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 2+ years of paralegal, legal assistant, immigration coordination, or related experience preferred.
- Experience with employment-based/corporate immigration matters strongly preferred.
- Experience working with outside counsel and cross-functional corporate teams preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with document management or case management systems preferred.
Qualifications
