Purpose
Assists and supports attorneys with research, legal process, and document preparation.
Responsibilities
- Researches and analyzes law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes.
- Supports the company's response to legal process; assists attorneys with preparing legal documents, such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, contracts, corporate resolutions, annual reports, insurer and TPA licenses or renewals, etc.
- Aid the office of corporate counsel in all aspects of corporate governance and compliance in order to advise the company's client areas, including but not limited to all insurance and benefit administration operations, human resources, finance, sales, marketing, and matters in litigation etc.
- Prepare and draft effective legal documents, such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, contracts, corporate resolutions, annual reports, insurer and TPA licenses or renewals, etc.
- Monitor and manage compliance with statutory, regulatory, and corporate governance requirements, including collecting and compiling information and documents.
- Cover the collection of documents and records maintained by other departments in connection with corporate filings, matters in litigation or administrative requests from regulators and auditors.
Qualifications
- Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in Paralegal Studies or Paralegal certificate OR 4 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
- Experience: 1 year Paralegal work experience.
- Knowledge, Skills And Abilities (KSAs): Comfortable working with ambiguity and rapid business changes; ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive material and information; conducts research, performs a variety of legal assignments, and manages routine projects including drafting, reviewing, and transmitting legal correspondence and documents; skill using inductive and deductive reasoning to draw inferences and reach conclusions; ability to learn and master legal software applications and internet research; provides regular feedback to attorneys and appropriate departmental personnel regarding the status of legal projects; excellent communication skills both written and verbal; ability to convey information in a clear, concise, and logical manner.
Preferred Salary Range
$55,296 - $101,376
